Locating Lucas
It was a normal Market evening. People came through the Market with nothing unusual, until we heard that someone had fallen in the parking lot. Hearing this, two of our team ran up to the parking lot to find an older man on the asphalt near his truck. One of our team members was working to help him when a young man, who was comforting the man, stood up. His name is Lucas. As we went to help the man, Lucas reached under the man’s arm and with the help of one of our team, lifted the man and helped carry him to sit in his truck until an ambulance arrived. Lucas then stayed there to make sure the man was fine.
Lucas left with his family and we did not see him again. We wanted to thank him, but we couldn’t find him. Then one night, over a month later as we made the opening announcement at a Market, we told everyone that we were trying to find Lucas. As fate would have it, Lucas had just arrived and raised his hand. We had found Lucas. We shared what Lucas had done and everyone applauded Lucas. Lucas now volunteers at our Markets as part of our Student Volunteer program where we teach serving others and our community. Lucas continues to set an example of how we serve others. Thank you Lucas.
