
When we started working in the world of retail food donation and redistribution, we watched as people lined up to walk along tables to be handed a bag of food that had been allocated for each person or family. Few people were smiling and as we talked with people, we found that very few veterans, veteran families, or active duty military would come through the food lines. We visited other markets and saw the same. Even though as many as 25% of active duty military and veteran families experience food insecurity, they often do not seek out food assistance. We decided to change this and created Serving Good.
Serving Good markets change the way that people see free food markets. We provide clean, organized markets with a variety of fresh produce, meat, prepared food, bakery products, pastries, shelf stable food, as well as flowers and household necessities. We provide a high level customer experience with customer service in each department that rivals any of the top, major food retailers. We create a positive environment that invites everyone to feel safe, proud, and welcome regardless of their background or life situation.
