Student Volunteers Help Us Give & Learn How We Give
We are a proud Trader Joe’s partner. Much like Trader Joe’s, we focus on giving to the community and setting an example for giving to others. Serving Good changes the lives of people in our community. Serving Good, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a partner agency of Feeding San Diego that serves active duty military, veterans, and our community. We partner with Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Grocery Outlet, and other major retailers to operate free food markets every week in Alpine. Serving Good markets eliminate the stigma of free food distribution by creating markets that do not just provide handouts, but operate like a grocery store, allowing market shoppers to choose fresh produce, meat, prepared food, bakery products, shelf stable food, as well as flowers and household necessities.
We welcome college and high school students to volunteer and learn. Volunteers learn how Serving Good markets create a community to change the way that people access food and support in our community. Volunteers learn how we design and operate free food markets, while giving their time to set up and work the markets. We teach the idea of community at its core and the value of giving through everything we do, including working directly with our market shoppers. Volunteers receive service hours and learn how to share their experience of giving and changing the lives of others. Students and/or parents can schedule a call to determine if volunteering with Serving Good is a good fit. Email us with any questions at ServingGoodAlpine@gmail.com.
