We Celebrate Veterans

The celebration was held at the Pacific Beach VFW Post 5985. The Pacific Beach VFW hosted the event. Led by Post Commander Michael Hill, the celebration was overflowing with special guests, family, and friends. The celebration was filled with food, fun, and honoring events, including being serenaded with the national anthem. Lem was also showered with honors, including from Fire Engine 21, the City of Chula Vista, the City of Coronado, the County of San Diego, and the California House of Representatives.

Lem was born in July 13, 1922 and joined the Navy in 1942 after hearing that the U.S. had been attacked. He did his boot camp in San Diego and later in the Great Lakes to learn how to be a Gunners Mate. He returned to San Diego to train others on the operation and maintenance of weapons systems. After his service, Lem returned to San Diego to be with his family.

Veterans have a special place in our hearts and Serving Good is proud to support active duty military, veterans, as well as the broader community. Don Zub carried our message of congratulations to Lem and his family for this incredible milestone. Happy Birthday Lem!
