The Clown Car: Taking on the Food Pickup Challenge

We pick up thousands of pounds of food every week for our markets. In some cases, we get a call from a store or when we go to pickup, we get a surprise. In this case, it was 2 pallets+ of chips and other shelf stable products. While we were out picking up at another location, one of our team members did what we do best: Create a Clown Car. (The “Clown Car” comes from a circus routine where the ringmaster fits as many clowns into a small car as possible). In these cases, chips, cereal, and even canned goods get loaded into every inch of the vehicle to get it all back to the market. In this case, it was over 140 bags of tortilla chips, salsa, and a variety of other dry goods. The entire SUV was filled, from the back to the front seat. :-)
